Lights on the Hill WA celebrating 80 years of the Fordson E27N

This year's Lights on the Hill tractor rally proved to be a memorable occasion, with enthusiasts gathering to celebrate an important milestone—the 80th anniversary of the iconic Fordson E27N tractor. Even if we were a year late…….

The Fordson Tractor Club of Australia was proudly represented by club members Mike Bell, David Errey and Kiel Ferguson, who together displayed an outstanding collection of Fordson tractors.

 

Mike Bell exhibited four tractors comprising a 1950 E27N Petrol/Kerosene, a 1950 E27N fitted with a Perkins P6 diesel engine, a 1959 Dexta and a 1959 Power Major featuring a six-cylinder diesel conversion. David Errey displayed his E27N Petrol/Kerosene, while Kiel Ferguson exhibited his E27N Perkins P6-powered County Full Track.

​​An impressive total of 16 Fordson E27N tractors attended the rally, making for a spectacular sight. The display showcased the evolution of the E27N through its various configurations, including original Petrol/Kerosene models alongside Perkins P6 and L4 diesel conversions. Complementing the E27Ns were two County Full Track conversions

Alongside the tractors, the Fordson Tractor Club of Australia also hosted a small display featuring Fordson literature and club membership forms. The display generated plenty of interest from visitors, many of whom enjoyed browsing the historical material and learning more about the club and its activities.

​The rally provided an excellent opportunity for owners and enthusiasts to share stories, exchange knowledge and admire the dedication that goes into preserving these historic machines. Celebrating 80 years of the Fordson E27N with such an outstanding turnout was a fitting tribute to a tractor that played an important role in agricultural history and continues to be appreciated by collectors across Australia.
